If you have a Ecotech engine it's located on the front of the block, drivers side. It is not a canister-sytle oil filter. These engines have a cartridge-type oil filter (real easy to change). You should see a black plastic cap with a large hex nut on top. Unscrew this cap and the filter will come out with the cap. Have some paper towels ready as a small amount of oil is still captured around the filter and will drip out as you remove the filter. the oil filter is located on the top side front of the motor as your standing over the motor look down near the front of it and you will see a black cap with a 34mm plastic nut on top of it (the cap and nut are black) take the cap off and your filter is located right there notw when putting the cap back on be sure not to tighten it down beyond 18 footpunds of torque due to the fact of the o-ring on the cap you will break the seal and need to replace the cap but io hope this is of some assistance to everyone cause god knows i needed it i spent 2 hours searching for it If you have a Ecotech engine it's located on the front of the block, drivers side. In a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire, there are two oxygen sensors. One would be located in the exhaust before the catalytic converter. The other is located in the exhaust after the catalytic converter.
The Oil Filter is on the top of the engine, to the left of the valve cover. It has a plastic cap that can be wrenched off. The Oil Filter is not a sealed filter that you are used to seeing. It drops in where you removed the black cap.
