Check all of the fuses to see if it blew a fuse, If you want to remove the seatbelt, pull the plastic cover and there are bolts inside to remove them. If you want to simply disconnect the electrical part, there is a connector under the sear.
The fuse block should be located to the left of the steering column, under the dash. Depending on which Mercury GS you have (sable, topaz, etc.) it should be a relay located in the fuse block.
I would suggest first looking on the inside of the fuse box(s) cover, where it should show the location/purpose of each fuse. If not, reference the vehicles manual for the fuse that corelates to the lighter.
In the glove box of my topaz "1993", there is a list of the fuses. Also the fuses are under the steering wheel. YOu have to get down on the ground with the door open and poke your head in sideways and look up at them. I hope I helped.
there is a brake light fuse in the pannel you just need to look for it.
Start off by opening the glove box their should be a legend saying what fuses do what find the number that is for the fuel gage, look under the steering wheel and you will see a fuse box pull out the bad fuse and replace it with another fuse make sure to use right ampage.

The track is stripped. Probably caused the fuse to blow. Not serviceable. Replace as a unit....very expensive....or install a manual anchor Shown in owners manual and pull that fuse back out.
You can deactivate the passive antitheft system on your Ford focus by removing the antitheft system fuse. The location of the fuse can be found on the inside cover of the fuse box.
The fuse is located in the main fuse box under the dash on the drivers side and its the number 17 fuse, 15 amp for the a/c compressor clutch...........
