Where is the reverse light switch on a 1999 Hyundai wagon with a 5 speed manual transmission?
On the left side of the trans.
You didn't state weather it was an Automatic or Manual transmission. Well any way they are both on the transmission. Manual transmission has a separate switch for the backup lights the automatic is built into the neutral safety switch on the transmission. Automatic switch is about $50.00. Manual switch is about $10.00. Hope you have a manual it is a lot cheaper.
How do you fix the reverse lights on a 1999 Hyundai Accent when all other lights and fuses work but when you shift it in reverse you get no reverse lights?

How do you fix reverse lights on a 1998 F150--all fuses are good and both bulbs are good--neither reverse light comes on when going in reverse--this is a manual 5 speed truck?
There is a switch in the transmission (manual) and I believe also automatic that triggers your backup lights when you move (change gears) into reverse. If the switch (in the transmission) does not touch (trigger) the backup light switch; or if the switch is not working; you will not have any reverse lights. I have a 1986 Nissan D21 4WD 6 cylinder manual trans and my reverse lights are not working What could be the problem?
If you have an Eaton Fuller manual or autoshift, it's on the left hand side on top of the transmission... if you have a manual, you undo the screws at the bottom of the boot, lift up the boot, look down there, and you'll see it... there'll be a weatherpack plug connected to it. Disconnect this plug... one pole should be hot with the key switch on. Run a jumper between the two poles... if…
The transmission range sensor or(manual lever positioning sensor)is on your transmission where the shift cable or linkage goes into your transmission. It functions as a park and neutral safety switch (start circuit),reverse light switch, and provides information to the power train control module (what gear is selected).
Hello, According to the Chilton repair manual, the "neutral/reverse" switch must be fremoved from inside the transmission. The switch is on top and to the right beneath the air filter. But, the fluid pan and filter must be removed, then the valve body, and the switch removes from the inside. Aggrevating isn't it, I'm facing the same thing. Jasper
