The sensor is located at the very front of the car on the pass. side. away from all the heat and as close to the ground to get a normal outside temp. if you lay on your back from the center of the car and just slide under the front fender you will see a sensor attached to the front plastic pannel just to your right a little It is held on by a plastic barb thingie. If you want to replace it, just pull it out, unplug it, plug new sensor in, push barb back in hole. Shouldnt take longer than a minute. (courtesy of another posting) Hope this helps. "G"

The 1999 Pontiac Grand Am AIT sensor is located on the outside of the air filter housing. The sensor will be on the back of the housing.

Coolant Temperature Sensor
The computer monitors the outside temperature through the sensor and will not activate the a/c when the temperature reading is too cold. It is not an expensive part but shop labour can be expensive. With the sensor replaced and reading proper the a/c function should return to normal. Hope this helps. "G"
