The knock sensor is located on the rear of the engine (fire wall) above the oil filter, towards the middle of the block. It has a plastic connector with one single wire in it and has a brass hex base. It's mounted at about a 30 degree angle to the vertical block face and is accessible from underneath the car.

You can test the knock sensor with the engine running, with a timing light attached watch the timing marks as you tap the engine block with a small hammer, you will see the timing retard briefly.
