Its under the intake manifold on the driver side. just remove the intake cover, then the upper intake and there it is. good luck.

to fit a starter motor it is normally held in by 3 maybe 4 bolts dependant on what car it is. these bolts are normally easily found when the starter motor is found which will be located either on the back or the front of the engine. attached to the gearbox. there is aso the main feed wire connected to the starter which must also be removed but always remember to disconnect the battery terminals before removing the starter.

Sounds like the starter dog is not disengaging from the flywheel. remove the starter and clean, lightly oil the shaft that the starter dog runs up and down on, it should move very easily when pushed up and down the shaft. A 1995 could be suffering from a build up of dirt on the shaft. easily remedioed once you have removed the starter from the engine. It maybe the solenoid on the starter, once removed from the engine an auto electric workshop will charge very little to test it on the bench.

The starter is located under the intake manifold. You will need to remove the intake air tube and the EGR tube. The top of your engine will have a cover held down with bolts along the perimeter. Remove these bolts and the cover will come off. I am assuming that you have the first generation Northstar? You can easily identify this engine if your spark plug wires are held inside of a black plastic loom that crosses over the throttle body and down to the front of the engine. Once the engine cover is removed there are four more bolts that will need to be removed. Now you can gently lift up on the entire intake manifold from the passenger side to gain access to the starter. Make sure that you have the battery disconnected. Use a bungee cord to suspend the intake manifold in the air so you can work below it. Remove the two wires going to the starter and then remove the two 13mm bolts securing the starter to the engine block and remove the starter. Install the new starter in the reverse order. The intake manifold gaskets are reusable. It is not as complicated as this may seem and you can do the job in usually an hour or so. Good luck and I hope this helped.
