Same answer as the 97 escort question.
Remove the radio/heater control module. Disconnect the temperature control cable at the base of the control assembly . It is on the center mound just to the right of the gas pedal. Take the heater control cable off of the back of the heater control module. Pull the temperature control cable off.

There is no temperature cable. The hvac outlet temperature is controlled with electric motors on airflow doors.
Under the dash on the driver side in between the petal and plastic frame is a round gear box push out on the tab in the center and it will slide right off
This is located on the throttle body. Follow the throttle cable and it is usually on the opposite side where the cable attaches to the throttle body.
No cable, all controls are done with electric motors.
On the hallway wall by the return air duct
It does not have a cable. It is all controled by the PCM. Power train control module / COMPUTER.
To replace a clutch cable fork on an Escort 1.85 diesel, first lift the clutch pedal to release the adjuster mechanism. Pull the cable through and hook the clutch cable fork.
Behind kick pannel alongside gas pedal. Remove push pins by prying up center head of pin and the pin will come out. The back of the pannel has a plastic finger that just seems to sit behind a sheet metal capture point. Dont pry that out or you will break off hte finger. How you get hte cable loose is a mystery to me. All I see so far is pull down on the "tab" and the cable will be released. I see no tabs and cable enters a plastic shroud around damper operator. Let me know if you get it loose please.
It is connected to a door in the lower part of the heating box. It is connected to a lever about even with the accelerator pedal on the tunnel housing under the HVAC controls. Check that the cable hasn't slipped out of the arm.
