I assume you are talking about the thermostat that controls the heat temperature that blows into your car. If that's the case, look under your hood, locate the radiator, then along the top of the radiator you should find a black hose. Follow that hose to where it connects close to the engine, there should be a clamp that holds it in place. Drain your radiator first, then disconect the clamp on the hose. Next, where you the hose was connected, that is a gooseneck and it should have two or three bolts that hold it to the engine. You will need to remove these bolts and lift the gooseneck off the engine and there you will find the thermostat. If you have an autozone or a car parts store close to your home, im sure they would gladly show you where it is located. Otherwise, make sure you purchase the thermostat, and most vehicles require a gasket that goes between the goosneck and engine. Make sure to ask the dealer when purchasing these parts. .

AnswerOn my 1994 grand am the thermostat is located rear of the engine just below the exhaust manifold. You really have to get your nose in next to the top rear of the engine to see it and its mostly a "let the force guide you" repair. You have to feel for the bolts with your fingers cause you can't see what your doing. AnswerOn my 1996 Grand am GT with the 2.4 DOHC 4cyl. the thermostat is located on the water pump on the side of the engine facing the firewall it is a pain the change. it would probably be easiest to do from underneath

Answerwhere is the thermostat on a 2000 Pontiac grand am Instructions on how to change a thermo..Hello, this page has instructions on how to install a new thermostat on a 99+ Grand Am. Also, not listed on the page as an instruction but something I did when changing the thermostat was to take off the throttle body which made getting to the inlet manifold bolts much easier. The bottom bolt was particulary hard to get too, the top bolt was not too bad. Good Luck. http://www.grandamgt.com/thermostat-pfyc.HTML
