depends, v6- drivers side of engine behind exhaust cross over,under throttle body held in by 2 13mm bolts. quad 4- behind engine, follow metal pipe that goes under oil pan, held in by 2 10mm bolts

it is inside the thermostat housing, which is where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine. the metal that the hose clamps to is the housing.
Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine. It should be located in a housing near where the hose connects to the engine.

On a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero, the knock sensor is located on the engine block. It may be bolted to the intake manifold, or to either side of the block.
On the 4.7L the thermostat is located under the housing that the lower radiator hose hooks to on the engine.
