It's on the side of the throttle body, on top of the engine, in the air flow path.
This transmission is not electronic, its is operated via a throttle valve control cable running from the throttle body to the transmission bell crank.

The engine number is the last 8 digits of the VIN(vehicle identification number) and is stamped on the engine block, transmission, frame and transfer case (if equipped).
I just had a throttle position sensor installed in my 1999 mercury grand marquis. I feel certain it is located in the same place on your 1998. Look up top behind the air intake tube (large hose) leading to your throttle body. It is a rather small black hard plastic item. www.autoclinix.com is a good website for printing out the directions for installing all parts on your mercury grand marquis. Good Luck, Ms. Lena
tps is back of throttle body look where your throttle cables hook up in the front look on the back side of that it has two harnesses that plug in
on the throttle body on the throttle body
1983 doesnt have a crankshaft position sensor. you have an ignition module located on the side of the distributor.
Try adjusting the idle using the idle screw on the butterfly valve of the air intake. It might be that the idle is just set too high. If that doesn't work, try adjusting the timing. If that still doesn't work, try replacing the Throttle Position Sensor, located right above the throttle body.
where is the ignition control module located on mercury marquis
84 does not use a cam sensor. it does however use acrankshaft position sensor located in the lower front section of the engine assembly.
The throttle position sensor (TPS) on a 1994 Mercury Tracer is located towards the driver's side of vehicle, under the hood. Directly to the left of the battery will be an intake air hose with a metal screw-on clamp. This clamp attaches the air hose to the engine's intake manifold. To the left of the clamp with the be the engines TPS assembly.
