depends on the vehicle. most are in the trans accesable by pulling the trans pan. others (like Honda and some Mopar products are on the outside. Try posting more info about vehicle for more detailed info.

A transmission shift solenoid is found inside the transmission housing. Replacing the unit depends on the vehicle, some allow access underneath the car while others the solenoids can be reach from above the transmission.
The Neutral safety switch is located on the back of the automatic transmission. it is quite simple to replace. It is probably easier to replace from under the vehicle, but it is accessable from the top if your vehicle is not equipped with ABS.
Mounted on the transmission.Remove the transmission pan and filter. You will see the transmission control solenoid and the transmission speed sensor. Replace trans. filter after you replace the solenoid.

It should be on the transmission on the passenger side of the vehicle. It is easy to find because there should be wires running from the alternator to the starter solenoid.
Depending on the vehicle the sensor could be located in several places. It is usually on the side or rear of the transmission, and either bolts on or screws in.

The vehicle speed sensor is on the transmission. The ABS speed sensor is on the differential.
The starter solenoid shows to be on top of starter. If you don't know where the starter is located, follow the positive battery cable. You may have to get under vehicle to get at the starter. I replace starter and solenoid as a unit. Now, if your talking about starter relay that is a different animal.
