What make? What year? If it's a carbureted engine, the voltage regulator is likely integrated into the alternator (some are serviceable, some are not). If the engine is fuel injected, the engine's computer usually serves as the voltage regulator.
The knock sensor is located on the 95 oldsmobile 98 with a 3800 engine under the midpoint of the heads.
On the fuel rail where the fuel line connects atop the engine. It has the fuel line coming in to it, a vacuum line connected on the left side, and the outlet to the fuel rail. All of this sits under the fancy 3800 cover which just lifts off by pulling it straight up.
On a 3800 engine it's located underneath the Alternator
The camshaft is located inside the engine block.

Take it apart, install new shaft bushings and brushes. Check diodes and regulator, replace any defective components.
located at the drive belt end of the motor (3.0 and 3.8 engines} 3800 motors the sensor is located at the other end. A 3.8 and a 3800 are the same engine just as a 3.1 is the same as a 3100. I have never heard of a 3.0 GM engine.
for GM's 3800 series II engine there were only 2 plants. Canada and Ohio. look at your RPO code located on your driver's side doorsill to find out.
It is located underneath the plastic engine cover on the right side of the engine as you look at it from the front.
