The vehicle speed sensor (VSS) on the 1997 Honda accord can be located on the passenger side of the vehicle. It's very hard to see as it is located directly below where the radiator hose connects to the engine. (Below the thermostat) If you disconnect and remove the air intake hose which runs from the air filter to the engine air intake it helps with access. It should be noted that there is a metal wiring bracket directly under the radiator hose where it connects to the engine. The VSS is located behind that bracket and about 6-8 inches below the thermostat. You most likely will need a flashlight to see it. It can only be changed from under the hood. I was able to do it with deep 10mm socket, a 3/8 ratchet , two 5" extensions and a 3/8 universal. I used the universal next to the socket and the two 5" extensions together to get access to the two bolts which hold the sensor.
