On the 3.1 six, the water pump is located on the right (would be on your left as you stand facing inside the open hood) end of the engine, a little below the Power Steering pump/filler cap, and across from the white coolant/windshield fluid reservoir. It's what the belt guard (with the serpentine belt routing diagram printed on it) is attached to, and has a good-sized black metal pulley that the BACK of the serpentine belt engages.
