What is the bolt placement for the heads on a Chevy 350 small block?

I don't remember how many bolts there are total. But I do no were they go. All the real short bolts go on the side were the spark plugs are, all the way down that side, several bolts. Then if you lay all the bolts together you will see just 4 bolts that are different in length then the rest. 2 of them go in each head, 1 in the last hole in the back of the head and 1 in the very front of the head ( In each corner) The rest of the longer bolts go through out the head between were all the rocker arms go.

When rebuilding a 1978 Ford 302 should you replace the head bolts?

Short answer. YES! You spent the money for the rest. Go the extra mile and replace head bolts. Over time they stretch. If you have the time and tools you can check each bolt for stretch but it is simpler just to replace them.

How do you torc a Chevy 350 4.3 motor?

First, you have to decide whether you have a 350 or a 4.3. They are completely different engines. Next you find the torque specifications for whatever bolts you're tightening. Then you buy or otherwise acquire (rent or borrow... don't steal) a torque wrench that is capable of the specifications that you'll need. FINALLY, you put the head or bearing cap or whatever you're "torquing" into place and finger tighten the bolts. Some people will tell you to tighten in 2 steps, I like to take it in3. If, for example, you're torquing the head bolts on your 350 or 4.3, and the specifications call for 90 ft/lbs, I prefer to start half way and tighten all bolts to 45 ft/lbs. Start in the center of the head, tightening the top and bottom head bolts to 45 ft/lbs. Then go to the right or left, your choice, and tighten ONE of the head bolts. If you went to the right and tightened the top head bolt, next go to the left and tighten the bottom, then go back to the right and tighten the bottom then to the left and tighten the top. Alternate that way until you've tightened ALL of the head bolts. Next, set the torque wrench to 80 ft/lbs, and start over, tightening the center head bolt and working your way to the outside. After you've done that, set the torque wrench to the final setting (90 ft/lbs in this example) and go through it all one more time.

Bolts for water pump 1995 jeep grand Cherokee v8 where do the long bolts go?

There are 7 bolts going into the water pump, 4 long and 3 short. The short bolts will go into the 12:00, 5:00, and 7:00 O'clock positions. Look for those 3 (short bolt) positions to have the timing chain cover threaded. The timing chain cover for the 4 long bolts will be smooth. Glad I could help.
