Well, Opium is used to make marijuana. It originated from United Statess!!!!!!! Its only grown in United States, and only sold in United States No. Opium comes from poppies, usually the opium poppy, Papaver somniferium, from the Middle East, Mexico, Asia, etc. Marijuana comes from Cannabis sativa, which is also grown in many countries. Both opium and marijuana have been in use for centuries, and both were around being bought and sold long before the US was ever thought of.

∙ 15y agoOpium is a narcotic that is derived from the "sap" of an Opium Poppy. The pods are slit after the flower blooms and the petals have fallen off (generally around 4-10 days) and the sap is scraped and collected. This is what "raw" Opium is derived from. The raw Opium is then processed into other derivitives such as Morphine and Heroin. In the raw form, it is usually smoked.

∙ 14y agoOpium is a byproduct of a particular type of poppy flower. These plants have a very large bulb at the top which when sliced around in circular pattern begins to ooze a thick white liquid. When this sap is dry, it is then scraped off the plant and sent for different processes. This opiate plant grows in several different regions of the world. South America, China, India to name a few. Morphine can be extracted from the poppy seed as well.

∙ 12y agoWell assuming you live in a country where opium does not grow,you would obtain opium from a drug dealer who sells opium,if you live in the united states opium use is not as common as in Asia and the Middle East,but it can,like any drug be purchased if you know the right people and have the money to buy the opium.
