Agent Orange is a defoliant. It was used by the US in the Vietnam War. It was used to deny jungle cover to the Vietcong by removing leaves from the trees, thus making the area clear of vegetation and more easy to see the movements of the enemy forces, but of course this killed the vegetation.

Agent Orange was a defoliant known widely for its use during the Vietnam War.

In Vietnam, it was dropped most heavily in the region of Truong Son (Long Mountains) and the border between Vietnam and Cambodia (many birth defects/affected people/health issues arise from these regions).

Agent Orange has also been used in the U.S. (1940s-70s), Korea, (1960s), Brazil (by Brazilian govt, and Canada (testing). There have been (so far proven) false statements that it has been used in Guam and Australia, among other places.

Agent Orange was a mix of 2,4-D and 2,4,5-T. 2,4-D is still in widespread use as a lawn chemical.
