If Israel would decide to hand over territory that could be used by the Palestinians as a launching-area for attacks of all kinds (as has been the case in Gaza and South Lebanon), then Israel itself would be acting as enemy of its own Jewish population.
Unless the Palestinians behave like Egypt and Jordan, who repudiated further war, Israel is rightly wary of concessions that would put it at a one-sided risk.

∙ 7y agoI would suggest that Israel is its own worst enemy. Once it has destroyed the possibility of a viable separate Palestinian state, it seems to have no plan for the longer term. Perhaps Israel should learn from the history of South Africa.
