Follow the upper radiator hose from the radiator towards the engine. The upper radiator hose is connected to the thermostat housing on the engine side. The thermostat is under/inside the thermostat housing. Remove the upper radiator hose from the housing then remove the two bolts holding down the thermostat housing then remove the thermostat housing to expose the thermostat.
Follow the upper radiator hose back to the engine, it is connected to the thermostat housing on the engine. The thermostat is located under the thermostat housing.

Follow your top radiator hose from the radiator , it connects to a metal pipe , the other end of the pipe is connected to the thermostat housing which is bolted to the front of the engine - the thermostat is inside the thermostat housing
Follow the top radiator hose from the radiator , it connects to a metal pipe , the other end of the metal pipe is permanently connected to the thermostat housing which is bolted to the front of the engine , the thermostat is inside the thermostat housing
On the 4 cylinder Saturn, follow the top radiator hose back to the engine. Note that there is a housing that is bolted to the engine to which the radiator hose is connected. Remove the radiator hose first, then remove the housing. On the 4 cylinder Saturn's, the thermostat is a part of that housing.
Follow the top hose from the radiator to the engine block. The thermostat is in the housing that the hose is connected to at this location
Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine block. The part the hose is connected to is the thermostat housing. The thermostat is under it.
On a Mitsubishi Galant, the thermostat is located in the thermostat housing. Find the upper hose on the radiator and follow it to where it's connected at the engine and you'll see the housing.
