Where can you find information about David E George who claimed to be John Wilkes Booth in 1903?

Answer There is much controversy whether David E George was actually John Wilkes Booth. Autopsy proved that John Booth has a pin in his leg (broken earlier in his life) and also dental records (there are no indications as to where John Wilkes Booth is buried. On the other side of the coin there were just too many similarities and too much David E George knew and many of them believed he was John Wilkes Booth. David E George's body was used in circus' for spectators and the myth would have it that any circus owner that owned the mummified corpse lost everything they owned and those that transported the body had bad luck or even death. Myth or reality? For more information on David E. George and John St. Helen see the last chapter of Lincoln, Davis, and Booth.

How did Abarham Lincoln die and who killed him?

Who shot Abraham Lincoln and what happened to him?

John Wilkes Booth killed President Abraham Lincoln. On April 14th 1865, on the eve of Good Friday, President Lincoln was shot in Ford's Theater in Washington DC, while watching a play, "Our American Cousin". He was sitting inside the State Box (an enclosed room with an opening facing the stage.) with his wife, Major Henry Rathbone, and the Major's fiancé, Clara Harris. At approximately 10:15-10:30, the play was in its third act. John Wilkes Booth walked through an unguarded and unlocked door to the State box (room). John F. Parker, had been assigned as the President's bodyguard but abandoned his post, earlier, during the play intermission, and wandered off to have a drink at a saloon, next to the theater. Booth then opened the State Box door; was armed with a single shot, Derringer, and a hunting knife, came up behind the President, and shot him once, in the back of the head, near point blank range. Booth then yelled "Sic Semper Tyrannis" , leaped out of the front of state box, attempting a firm landing on the stage. Instead, of a firm landing, he snagged the spur of his boot, on a decorative flag, which hung on the outer edge of the State Box, breaking his left leg, when attempting his land on stage but managed to escaped from the theater.Dr. Charles Leale had been in attendance, in the audience, rushed to Mrs. Lincoln, checked the President's pulse, and when he raised his eyelids, saw indication of brain damage. "His wound is mortal; it is impossible for him to recover." The President would not be able to endure a carriage ride to the White House, and was moved from the theater to the nearest house across the street. One of the boarders at the House; heard a disturbance in the street, and quickly went out the front door of the Petersen Boarding House. He saw the President being carried into the street and yelled, "Bring him in here, bring him in here." The invitation was accepted.. The president's breathing grew fainter; , he remained comatose for 8.5-9 hours. Nearly every leading doctor in Washington DC. stopped by to offer help and assistance. A large crowd gathered outside in front of the Petersen House.. During the President's last hours, the Reverend of the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church, the Lincoln family church, prayed with those present, when the end came at 7:22 AM, the following morning, April 15, 1865.

Did John Wilkes Booth plan his escape carefully?

He did! I believe he got away with the crime and went on to live a long life (a minority opinion). The plot to kidnap Lincoln on the 14th fell apart that afternoon. At about 5pm, Booth was talked into killing Lincoln. Booth did not die at the Garrett farm and Booth's life long friend, John Stevenson, tells what happened. People were ready and in place to help with the kidnapping of Lincoln. Booth had planned that Captain Scott and his ship would take Lincoln away. Now, Booth intended to use that ship for his escape. After killing Lincoln and crossing the Navy Yard Bridge, he galloped toward the ship. His horse tripped and fell in the darkness of night. Booth's horse rolled over on its side with Booth in the saddle. He broke his leg and hurt his back. His plans changed. Booth decided to get treatment for his leg and back. He headed to Dr. Mudd's farm. Dr. Mudd was part of the 'doctors line' helping escaped, hurt, and wounded Confederate soldiers get back to the south. After leaving Dr. Mudd's farm, Booth headed for his farm that was about fifty miles away in the Shenandoah Valley. There Booth's wife would care for him. This was not his plan at the beginning because it could be putting Izola in jeopardy as a co-conspirator in Lincoln's assassination.
