Follow the upper radiator coolant hose and where it meets the engine the thermostat is under the little neck. It should be 2 or 3 bolts to remove it make sure to se a new gasket and put the new thermostat in the right way and use sealant on the gasket as well as the bolt threads. Make sure to put the sealant on the INSIDE of the bolt holes on the gasket not all the way around them or it might leak. Also don't use 4 lbs of sealant for one gasket

Rtv sealant, get a new gasket then cover all mating surfaces of the thermostat housing, and the inlet pipe with rtv sealant. Keep in mind that the sealant will squirt out when you the tighten the bolts so don't put too much on there, just enough that a thin bead of sealant is visible all the way around the thermostat after the bolts have been torqued. Make sure to follow the directions on the package and allow the sealant to cure before you add fluid to the cooling system!

When using a new pan gasket, no sealant is necessary. Using sealant on a automatic transmission pan gasket is a bad idea, excess sealant can cause trouble.

Do this when the engine is cool. Use an appropriate container to catch any coolant spillage. Then take the thermostat cover off, take out the old thermostat and clean up any rust or sealant residue. How do you replace the thermostat located on a 1994 Ford Mustang?
Either V6 or V8 follow the top radiator to the motor and it will be there under a cove you have to unbolt. if it is a 3.8l v-6 there is two 10 mm bolts that hold the thermostat "goose neck" onto the lower intake manifold. suggest you slightly drain your radiator a bit and remove the two bolts. you do not have to take the upper radiator hose off. once the assembly is off, then remove the thermostat and discard the gasket. with new gasket and thermostat available, remove all the old gasket sealant from the " gooseneck" and lower intake. apply new gasket sealant to the gooseneck and place the thermostat into the gooseneck. put the new gasket onto the sealant and reinstall onto the lower intake. do not over tighten the two bolts. alumminum intake vs steal bolts, will cause the threads to strip out of the intake manifold and you will have larger problems.

where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine block, there are two bolts, but on a v6 2.5, there is another hose behind this one kind of under the air filter inlet plastic thingy. Fist take of the plastic thingy there is like one bolt, and the clips over the air filter. Then you can remove the metal thermostat houseing by removeing 3 bolts (possibly 4 I think someone tapered with mine because I see a bracket that might need to be removed) to reveal the thermostat. To install a NEW thermostat (which i recommend if you have gone as far as removing the housing) use some rtv coolant system sealant on the edges of the thermostat, place it into the opening with the metal stop outwards. using some rtv coolant system sealant and a thermostat inlet tube gasket place the bolts into the thermostat housing, put a small bead of sealant across the gasket, and place the gasket on the housing. then place another small bead across the other side of the gasket. the sealant should hold the gasket in place until you place it onto the coolant inlet. carefully position the housing onto the inlet over the thermostat and thread the bolts. use hand tools to do the tightening, and do not over tighten. the inlet is made of aluminum, and strips out easily. It is actually under where the lower hose hooks on.

it took me 3 times to get it right without leaking .there's hardly any room ..the springs on the thermostat go in the housing of the part u unbolted ..i call it goose neck..or housing..prep it ..first put the thermostat in with the little nipple thing at the top that's on the thermostat...put it in the housing..coat the gasket with sealer on the side that goes over the thermostat put it on over the thermostat let it set up for over an hour . i put some sealer on the thermostat also just to hold it in place around the edges that meet the gasket ..cause the two times before that i installed it ...it would always fall off and get dirt and oil on the sealant not good.after it's set up put the sealer on the other side of the gasket that meets the engine block... than carefully turn it to where the port for the holes goes on make sure that's at the top and weasel it under the AC line ..try not to bump it at all.... then install it..hope that helps..P.S don't forget to bleed it after your done to get the air out of the coolant system

remove some of your antifreeze,disconnect top radiator hose,remove 2 bolts holding thermostat cover remove thermostat and scrap sealant off both sides and put more sealant on and install thermostat and tighten 2 bolts and add more antifreeze.
