Just make the clutch pads line up with the clutch disk. the pressure plate can only go on one way due to the positioning dowels

find a/c compressor remove center bolt from electric clutch use a bridge puller span the clutch face plate now put a longer bolt through the center of puller, thread back into the clutch face plate as you tighten the bolt it will pull off face plate.go buy a snap ring remover set then take out the center snap ring the clutch housing and bearing will come off now just bump it with a block of wood.Install new clutch reverse order.remember your air gap is determined by the washers between face plate and clutch on center bolt.if you dont care if a/c works when your done you can force the clutch face plate off with two opposing flat screw drivers after removing center bolt.Now with this info you can make that dreadful bearing screech go away.Dont be fooled by regular auto techs you do not have to replace the compressor to put on a new clutch bearing assembly.Now you have the plan Get to work it will take you 1 to 4 hours on your skill level.God Bless have a great day

Your throw-out bearing has went bad in the clutch assembly. You will have to replace the bearing. Inquire about a throw-out bearing at your local auto-parts store. It is a good rule of thumb that if you're going to dissasemble the clutch assembly, you should replace the clutch, and pressure plate too! When clutch-assy has been removed, check the fly-wheel for scarring on its face where the clutch assembly was once attached. The face should be smooth, and the fly-wheel should NOT be warped, pitted, or damaged! If it is, replace it before you put a brand new clutch assembly back onto the vehicle. What are the wires to the ac clutch?
The AC clutch is essentially and electromagnet. There is a coil sitting inside of the rotating pump pully. It does not rotate , it is mounted to the front of the pump. The plate visable at the front of the pump is attached to the main shaft of the pump mechanism. When current passes through the coil it creates a strong magnetic field attracting the front plate, "clutch plate," to the face of the rotating pully. This causes the pully to rotate the clutch plate resulting in the rotating of the pump mechanism and creating the pressure differential that is used to cool the car.
What problems do you look for when you are visually checking a pressure plate assembly?
Are the springs all in place and secure, surface cracks in the face of the plate, excessive burn marks. Generally it makes more sense to put a complete clutch kit in when you change the clutch. More money, but is saves having to do it again and should make the clutch last longer. No matter how good the pressure plate may look, it still has wear and may not have the pressure it should have.

If it is the clutch and not the transmission. The face of the clutch disc may have come off. Dumping the clutch too often can cause this, or can "just happen". It may be packed against the bell housing and hitting the pressure plate. Pressure plate may have lost a spring when the clutch went and it is hitting. You will know when it is taken apart.

You replace it. The oil is in the clutch face and if you use it, the face will come off of the disc. There is no way to clean it.
