One of the slaves that went back to the south after she went to the north is Harriet Tubman. She went back to help other slaves get to the north.
Harriet Tubman was an escaped slave who went back South to help other slaves to escape.
North dislike The Fugitive Slave Law, because that did not support slavery, and therefore did not want to send escaped slaves back to the south. North brought the slavery issue to their own doorstep , and gave the runawys a heroic victim status.
lincon knew that this war was going to seperate the united states. since the southern states (confederate) wanted to keep their slaves they agreed to go to war. after they lost the war the african americans got their freedom. most of them moved to the north because the north was a slave free territory. but lincon didnt bring them back by throwing a party they just surrenderd in.

For being so brave and going back and getting more slaves and leading them to freedom instead of just going herself and leaving all the other slaves wich is nonselfish and for being completly succsesful with the other slaves.
captured slaves that are fleeing north or already in the north and bring them back south
The slaves faced being captured and returned to their plantations in the north. Also when brought back, they could be beat to death.
It was unpopular in the north because they did not support slavery, and therefore did not want to send escaped slaves back to the south
Slaves traveled north for the most part. If they were lucky they could reach Canada where they would be free from being brought back to the south. They could still reach the northern states, but they could be brought back to the south.

It takes about 2 to 3 days if there going to north or south, but if there gonna just move from north to south its about 1 day.
Because of high amounts of urbanization in the North, the few plantations theyr'e were, were not in need of many slaves. The North also imported many things from the South, like cotton which would likely be sold back to the South in a different form, therefore having an indirect effect on the North.
They created the Underground Railroad-- which was a trail from the South to the North, and if a slave was lucky, they could get all the way to Canada where they could not be captured again. Harriet Tubman was a major contributor for smuggling slaves to the North, even though every time she went back down to the South, she risked being re-captured herself.
The south was the slaveholding section, though there were still a few slaves in the north. Slavery had once been legal in all the states. But the south was not fighting FOR slavery. Most Confederate soldiers did not own slaves. Slaves were expensive. Think about it - would you go fight, and fight hard, for years, just so some rich man could keep his slaves? And the north was not fighting against slavery, at least not at first. The north was fighting to "preserve the Union", which the southern states wanted out of. The southerners were fighting for their independence. Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation came after a year and a half of war, and changed the war into one which we look back on today as "for" or "against" slavery.
No, it was in fact the North who won the Civil War because: The South was fighting for the right to own slaves and the north did not agree at all. Sometimes southern slaves tried to escape the south and flee to the North. (at that time all African- Americans were enslaved and could do nothing about it) . Back when slavery occurred, Abraham Lincoln was our President and of course, he also did not agree with slavery. So the South declared war and before long the South lost. Slavery was put to an end. Sadly though, shortly after the war had ended, Abraham and his wife were in a theater, watching a film and Abraham Lincoln was shot in the back of the head and killed by a southerner.
