First let us define the word Theocracy.

Theocracy: 1. a form of government in which God or a deity is recognized as the supreme civil ruler, the God's or deity's laws being interpreted by the ecclesiastical authorities. 2. asystem of government by priestsclaiming a divine commission.

one civilization known to have an Theocratic government is the ancient Israelites. Their GOD gave them laws and was the supreme ruler of their nation as stated in thee book of Isaiah.

Isaiah 33:22 For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.

The Authorities in Ancient Israel was the levitical priesthood of the tribe of Levi as stated.

Joshua 18:7 But the Levites have no part among you; for the priesthood of the LORD is their inheritance:

Deuteronomy 24:8 Take heed in the plague of leprosy, that thou observe diligently, and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you: as I commanded them, so ye shall observe to do.
