God created humans (Genesis ch.1). This world is a purposeful creation by God, in which all people are tested concerning their use of free-will. We possess a soul which lives on after the body dies and is held responsible for the person's actions. Anyone who is worthy can merit reward in the afterlife.See also:

Every religion in the world has a creation story, and every religion in the world has a different answer as to who created us.

Leaving various religious beliefs aside, we evolved over a period of millions of years from an earlier species. Some find it contrary to their sense of dignity that humans were not always the 'perfect' species we now are, but those are the facts.

Humanism philosophy was created in the last decade of the 14th century by a man named Francesco Petrarca who was a scholar and felt like the church was in too much control over the people during the time. Humanism was created so people could break off from the church and so people could reach their full potential through education.
