The term 'Iron Curtaibn' was first used by the writer H.G. Wells in his 1904 novel, Food of the Gods (Part IV, section I, & section III). He used it to describe the isolation of a scientist. "...the fact that an Iron Curtain had dropped between him and the outer world."
