He was one of the first people to spread the word of Humanism. Once he did it spread fast and almost everyone had heard his ideas on philosophy. He gave the world a new perspective on things which is what the renaissance was all about

Petrarch was influenced by his hero, Cicero, and frequently wrote letters to him though he died over 1000 years before Petrarch was born.

Also,many of his poems are about/adressed to a woman named Laura, whom he was in love with. Laura's true identity remains unknown.
