There is no founder or inventor of Atheism. Atheism is as old as humanity.

We are all born atheists. Religion must be taught and learned. Since atheism is simply the absence of belief in the supernatural the question should probably be turned around. The absence of belief in the supernatural would logically precede a belief in the supernatural.

Therefore it would be more logical to ask, "Who invented gods?": It was probably the first hominid who fell to his knees in shock, fear and awe, wondering how he could somehow appease the higher power that caused the lightening strike that just killed his companion.

More modern atheism is often the result of people who came to the conclusion that there were no gods through logical thinking, especially as modern science began to develop and answer questions that seemed unanswerable to our predecessors.
