Both world wars happened...true both World War I and World War II happened, but there were many other events that took place during the 20th centurty in England. Edward VI succeeded Victoria and reigned from 1901-1910. Edward was known as the Peacemaker, so England had prosperity during his reign. His son, George, became king after him from 1910-1936. George changed the family name to that of the English Windsor. In 1922 BBC helped George and his wife, Mary, to continue the monarch's popularity. In 1934 George began brodcasting on the radio and in newspapers(later on t.v.). Along with the Great Depression in the United States, England had its own depression. There were many who lived horrible lives and were unable to meet living standards. Other than both World Wars, which is very popular, music was very big in England from the middle of the 20th century(1950s) and throughout the century.
