James Scullin was an Australian Labor Politician, and the thirteenth Prime Minister of Australia (but the ninth different Prime Minister). Australia's first Catholic Prime Minister, he served from 12 October 1929 to 19 December 1931.

As Prime Minister, he successfully brought Australia through the Great Depression. In order to do this, he suspended compulsory military training, raised tariffs on imports, abandoned the gold standard, increased social service payments and reduced assisted Immigration. He pushed for farmers to grow more wheat in order to increase exports.

Scullin was born on 18 September 1876 and died on 28 January 1953.

Did James Henry Scullin have any children?

No, he did not have any children. His sister, Annie, had a daughter name Helena and James Scullin and his wife treated her like a daughter. So much so, that Helena's uncle Jim gave her away when she was married. I know this because Helena was my grandmother and therefore James Scullin is my great, great uncle.
