Augustine of Hippo, Born 13th November, 354, Died 28th August 430, was Bishop of Hippo Regius, and a philosopher and theologian. Augustine, a Latin church father, is arguably one of the most important figures in the development of Western Christianity. Augustine was heavily influenced by the Neo-Platonism of Plotinus. He developed the concepts of original sin and just war. When the Roman Empire in the West was starting to disintegrate, Augustine developed the concept of the Church as a spiritual City of God, distinct from the material City of Man

Augustine was born in the city of Tagaste, the present day Souk Ahras, Algeria, to Patricius and Monica. He was educated in North Africa and ignored his mother's pleas to become Christian. Living as a pagan intellectual, he took a concubine and became a Manichean (a Gnostic religion). Later he converted to the Catholic Church, became a bishop, and opposed heresies. His works which includes The Confessions, which is often called the first Western autobiography, are still read around the world.
Saint Augustine was bishop of Hippo. He wrote many theological works and he was a major influence on western christianity. He lived in the fourth century A.D, and is not to be confused with saint Augustine of Canterbury, apostle to the English, who lived in the sixth and seventh centuries A.D.

Did Saint Brigid of Ireland become the first and only female bishop?

There is no historical evidence to support the claim that Saint Brigid of Ireland became a bishop. In early sources, she is described as a powerful and influential abbess but not a bishop. The idea of her being a bishop is likely a later embellishment or misinterpretation.
