I believe the first "president"s name was Samuel Huntington. If you count him and his successors as the first presidents, George Washington becomes the 11th president, John Adams the 12th, etc. until George W. Bush as the 53rd president and Barack Obama as the 54th.
There has never been a "President of America." George Washington was the first "President of the United States."
The first "President of the Continental Congress" during the Revolutionary War was Peyton Randolph. The moderator of Congress under the Articles of Confederation was officially known as the "President of the United States in Congress Assembled." Neither of these positions held any national power but were simply the 'chairman' elected by the other members of Congress.
