There were five presidents in total . Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson Nixon and Ford. The US participation began with Eisenhower in 1954, We left in 1974.
All but Ford escalated the US involvement. Eisenhower started it, Kennedy sent in the SEALS and Green Berets, Johnson sent in regulars and commenced bombing North Vietnam. Nixon invaded Cambodia and Laos and B52'd Hanoi to the peace talks. Ford pulled everybody out.
