It was North Korea against South Korea, until a UN force, mostly made of US troops entered on the side of the South. Then China entered the war to help the North.

The Korean War was a conflict between the United Nations and Communist North Korea (which was aided by "volunteers" from Communist China). The war began on June 25, 1950 when North Korea invaded South Korea. Two days later, the United Nations' Security Council voted to authorize member nations to help South Korea defend itself against North Korea. Later, when "volunteers" from Communist China joined the North Koreans in November of 1950, U.N. forces had to fight the Chinese as well.
Communist China and the former U.S.S.R. But to a more limited "advisory" role. Mostly Communist Chinese provided the weaponry and following the push to the China/North Korea border they provided Chinese soldiers.

The US won the Korean War and South Korea is a republic similar to ours. The US did not win the Korean war. See "Who actually won the Korean War?" Better answer. South Korea won the Korean War With the Help of Britain, Autralia and USA Neither side won the Korean War, although at first it seems like North Korea was winning and then the South was. It was a tie because there was a stalemate for two years between the two sides.
