Incumbents Ronald Reagan and George Bush for the Republicans against challengers Walter Mondale and Geraldine Ferraro for the Democrats. Reagan absolutely destroyed Mondale in the election. Out of a possible 538 electoral votes, Reagan won 525 to 13. The Mondale only took his home state of Minnesota, plus Washington D.C. Reagan got everything else.
