It was the British, they kicked out the French in a lot of their land in Canada. I believe one of the turning points of the war was in 1690 when the English annexed Montreal... Then in 1763 the Peace of Pairs was signed to end the war. The lasting effect that the war had at the time was that it balanced out the powers of the world making them more even. In addition, if this war didn't happen it can be debated that the whole "no taxation without representation without representation would have happened... I'm done I have to study for a midterm on this actually right now....
