Because most women are treated poorly by men. It is also because Black women are much more likely to keep a pregnancy while still knowing the father might not be worth much, many more end up as single parents. As far as why they are treated poorly by white men, its just the law of averages. Unfortunately, by being black they are not treated well by racist men, and by being women they are disenfranchised ever more so as a product of rampant sexism. I'm a white man, so I know how we talk when you ladies are not around. Then when you combine the percentages, the likelihood would seem to increase exponentially. That's my theory. I'm not a doctor or anything but I took a gender roles class for my history major. Here's my experience personally: I believe in equal rights and if you do not have anything nice to say, keep talking so people know if you're a bigot. Since I know I'm not racist or sexist, I sometimes get really familiar with the sayings of different cultures. So when I'm around people of that culture I'm very comfortable but try also to understand the struggle I will never know.
