GIRLS: Girls are used for being sexually abused and fighting.

∙ 11y agoThe US Army does NOT use child soldiers, however we have some adults in our society that can act as if they are childish and that goes for every civilian job in America. The minimum age for enlistment in to the Military is 17 years old with parental consent and as long as they complete their high school requirements.
Your forces using child soldiers nowadays tend to be guerilla/insurgent/terrorist/paramilitary forces, rather than regular military forces. Several countries in Africa have had rebel movements which have forced children to serve with them. Children are generally easier to manipulate into following you than adults, and tend to be a bit more unabashed about using violence. I'm sure anyone who has ever dealt with children could tell their own accounts of how they have a tendency to be much more cruel to each other than adults.
Modern day child soldiers/insurgents have been observed in Sri Lanka (LTTE/Tamil Tigers), Bosnia-Herzegovina (various paramilitary organisations), and various conflicts throughout Africa (more than I care to list right now).
