- As the typical purchaser of a hybrid wants better efficiency as a priority than the typical of a non-hybrid, the manufacturers of hybrids go to extra effort to reduce energy lost to air drag, rolling resistance of the tires, etc. than do the manufacturers of non-hybrids. Honda even uses a special 0W-20 oil in their hybrids to reduce energy loss in the engine due to viscosity drag of the oil as it flows thru the engine!
