That's a good question. People are scared of witches because of the persecution that has been brought upon us. If you look up information on 'The Burning Times' you will find out so much more than what I can tell you. Or you can just listen to the song 'Burning Times' By Moonstruck. People are also scared of us because we can cast spells. But it is not what most people think. Witches live by an ethical code that forbids us to harm anything. This is called 'The Witches Rede'. It is 26 2-line verses long, but can be summed up into 8 words. An ye harm none, do what ye will.
Much as the above explains why people should not be afraid of witches it does not address the original question.
Fear, in most cases is based in lack of knowledge. Things people have not experienced can be frightening. Often misinformation (deliberate or unintentional) plays a role in peoples' fears.
The very best counter-agent to fear is information. Not the Propaganda pushed by any number of faith based sects, or the "scary" stories and images of popular fiction, but from the source.
If you wanted information about the USA, you would not ask the French, nor would you ask a Buddhist to explain Christianity.
Witches do exist, not all of us practice the above stated "Witches Rede". We are very personal in our spiritual paths and trying to force us all under the umberella of the "rede" is again is like asking the pope to explain Christian Science.
I would say the best way to know a witch, or anyone else for that matter, is to analize their behaviour. People who "walk the walk" no matter their chosen spiritual path are the "good guys".
I know of people who claim a faith based spiritual path that in their everyday life behave in ways I consider unethical or just plain dishonest, the going to "sacred space" and being absolved of their wrong doings, does not make them better if they continue to behave the same way.
I also know people who follow several of the accepted (and a few just barely known) spiritual paths that are labled "witches" and "pagans" and "heathens" etc. who are honest, hard working, caring human beings. As I said, it is the behaviour of people that ultimately tells you "what" they are.
In knowing, we transend our fears.
Everything and nothing. The same as christian, and every other human being on this planet. I repeat myself time and again without fail, and I won't stop doing so. We are human, just like the people you pass on the street. Just like the people in the doctors office, the drivers of the cars passing you by, the people you interact with at work. We are only individuals, that's what makes most people afraid of us.
Witchcraft is the art of a witch. Many people are frightend by this because they think witches are green and fly on brooms. But witches are really just some phsyco chick trying to scare people.
Because people where afraid of something that was new and no one knew about so to them it was evil and was not related to the churches ways
depends on which Witch; personally I am afraid of living forever.
People believed witchcraft was the work of the devil and thus, they thought all witches must be eliminated before they harm innocent people.
Because they cackle, fly on broomsticks, make potions and have green skin. Enough said.
because witches were very scary then people didnt think witches were very nice
yes from my research i have witnessed it before the witches touchered me they look like aliens scary little things
There is one very scary movie called 'The Witches' after a novel by Roald Dahl. (Not suitable for children, very scary)
People think Halloween is all about spooky things,so they dress scary and look scary.
They are scary and sometimes use black magic, but they are just fictional characters invented to scare people.
ghosts pumpkins witches goblins zombies bats skeletons frankenstine and spiders
Witches hat, a withes dress, bright tights and if you are a boy then a pirate hat and suit thing maybe and scary mask.
It is difficult to interpret any dream without having a description directly from the dreamer. Very generally, the dream is about your husband's feeling as if his energy is being drained by something or someone rather scary, represented by the witches.
There is no single universal opinion that "we think" about witches in the present day. In the United States, the United Kingdom and most Western nations, Wicca and other forms of Paganism are recognized as a legitimate religions, and witches have the same rights as all citizens. There continue to be some countries that outlaw witchcraft; however, the targets of prosecution (and persecution) tend to be the victims of gossip, superstition and fear rather than actual practitioners of Wicca or Witchcraft.
You can get a lot of great ideas for Halloween at Amazon.com. They have an extensive listing and it includes ghouls, goblins, witches, wizards and scary demons from hell.
Unlucky because in the olden days they always thought that witches always had black cats
Think of scary stuff, like ghosts, vampires, zombies, witches, strange occurences, night time... But in the end it really depends on what your age is and what your looking for. It could be a horror mystery, or a silent horror, or a ghost story, or a slasher, or something that just has horror themes.
