The Wolf is not an endangered species; there may be wolf populations that are in trouble due to being hunted by humans such as they are in the mainland Unites States; but the species is widespread throughout Canada, Northern Europe and Asia and in no threat of extinction.

Many species of the wolf have become extinct. This may be because of over hunting or clear cutting forests they live in. The wolf was highly endangered until it was introduced into Yellowstone National Park, where it now thrives in a protected habitat. The wolf was taken off of the endangered list, meaning they can be hunted outside of Yellowstone. Environmentalists do not think this is the right desicion. However, ranchers claim that the wolf is killing their livestock, and wanted permission to shoot them.
Probably one of the greatest reasons is peoples fear of wolves. Many people misunderstand wolves. Wolves are not known for attacking humans, wolves actually are more scared of humans. Many wolves are killed by encroachment in their territory, along with the prey. Wolves are also killed by livestock owners to protect their livestock.
Overall, wolves are not endangered and are listed as a species of least concern. A few small populations ans subspecies are endangered, however.
