Why are your headlights not working on your 1996 gmc sierra pickup truck the high beams work but not regular beam. the sockets do not have voltage when tested?

I had the same issue on my 96 silverado. I pulled the dash off and dismounted the parking/headlamp switch. After unplugging the wires I saw that it was fried so I bought a new one for 30 bucks at the dealership. Luckily that's all it took. I swapped it out and its been working for the last 4 years with no issues.

Do the high beams work? Check for power at the sockets. If power is there change lamps. If no power first check the fuses, wiring and headlamp switch.
