It is like everything else in the world to avoid a monopoly different mobile carriers use different networks. The network (towers) that ATT uses is nothing like the VerizonWireless network. So, basically, an ATT phone just could not work with Verizon because of what is inside the phone.
You can't use Verizon service on ATT phones or any other GSM phones. Verizon runs on a different frequency, which ATT phones do not support.
iphone by far is the best phone that is compatible with verizon phones. They were usually exclusive to att but now that verizon has it, the company has been doing better. The iPhone is arguably the best phone on the market right now and has endless amount of features that you can use daily that will help you get through your days.
"There are many companies that sell pay as you go phones. ATT, Verizon, T-Mobile, and even Wal Mart offer phones that give consumers the choice to pay for only the use they want."
I have a Blackberry Storm that is only offered by Verizon. I have unlocked it and am using it on ATT. The best way to do this is to go to www.crackberry.com and go through some of the disucssions there. They have lots of unlocking tips and links. The best one I found was www.berryology.com. This website is all about unlocking Blackberry phones.
That depends. Modern "World Phones", hybrid phones like the iPhone 4S that contain both a CDMA radio and GSM radio are technically possible, though Verizon won't activate any iPhone not purchased from them, since Verizon iPhones are "white listed" to the network and sim locked to prevent using them on domestic GSM carriers. On the other hand, you can take a "World Phone" such as a Blackberry from Verizon and use it with an AT&T SIM card, as long as it is SIM unlocked, chances are you will only use the GPRS network since most Blackberrys on Verizon were limited to that. Newer Verizon Blackberrys like the 9830 have modern GSM radios to handle more.
You will need to unlock your device. Verizon, and all other phone companies, lock their phones so that you can only use their service. You should be able to contact them and ask them to unlock it for you. Most companies are okay with it.
No you cannot. AT&T is a GSM network and Verizon is CDMA. They use different equipment. You can use a Verizon phone on Sprint though.
T-Mobile phones do not work with Verizon's Service. T-Mobile phones use Sim Cards and Verizon does not, so they are not compatible.
If you are more comfortable in the use of a Verizon wireless phones then you don't need to purchase other brands of wireless phones. Verizon wireless phones are more user friendly and they come cheap.
Absolutely, I do. ... Yea, but only if you buy it unlocked

ATT wireless phones are advertised frequently for their reliable network and connection. ATT wireless phones use 4G network technology for high speed connections. 4G is known as 4th generation wireless and is the highest stage of broadband mobile communications. This is a major reason why ATT wireless phones are praised and recommended by customers. ATT also offers a wide variety of wireless phones such as Andriod phones, smart phones, full keyboard phones, touchscreen phones, slider phones, and flip phones.
