A reason for that would be because, the Soviets were busy with militarization (mobilizing of troops) so they needed the british and US to attack so they had time to sneak up on Germany from behind. Also known as a 3 pronged attack

The Soviet Union had done most of its fighting in Europe up to that point.

Wrong! Stalin's USSR and Hitler's Germany were initially allies but Hitler turned against Stalin and tried to invade Russia - a fatal mistake from his point of view. The Nazis were already invading much of Western Europe, hence Britain declaring war on Germany; and at the end in 1944 the USSR's armies were pushing into Germany from the East while the Allies (Britain and her Commonwealth, and USA) invaded from France. The end however was far from ideal. Although Hitler and his Nazi Dictatorship with its terrible genocide programme were dead, the USSR was not prepared to return a vast swathe of E. European territory to its own people, but took it and the Eastern half of a now-divided Germany, into its own iron control.
