Paul Revere joined the Sons of Liberty for economic reasons. He was a silver/goldsmith and his business was suffering due to the Stamp Act that put a tax on everyday products such as newspaper, bills, pamphlets, etc. Because of the money spent on these taxes, ordinary people did not have enough money to spend on luxury items like family crests, silverware sets, bowls and ladles, etc. He wanted to become more politically involved and used his skills as an engraver to do Propaganda engravings such as his famous Boston Massacre cut.
