England had signed a pact along with other countries to protect its longtime ally Poland from another invasion by Germany or any other country after The Great War (World War I), so that Poland could concentrate on rebuilding its civilian infrastructure.
Neville Chamberlain, the British Prime Minister had already threatened Hitler that if he invaded any more countries that Britain would declare war. When German troops invaded Poland on 3rd September 1939, Neville Chamberlain declared war on Hitler.
