This was because Britain was abusing them and taxing them without even presenting the colonists the taxes they had to pay. Also, they wanted to start a new life or practice their religion freely.
after the french and Indian war, Britain was in allot of dept and needed some money. So they started to tax America. these taxes are relay stupid and got allot of people from America mad so they started to rebel(im getting ahead of my self I'm to lazy to tell the whole story)XD....bla.bla.bla..THEN THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR BROKE OUT!!..then this guy namedThomas Paine wrote a book(or pamphlet) called common sense,it tells the people how kings are corrupt and that we the people should rule our self's.that's why America wanted independence
They wanted to break away from Britain because of a couple of reasons, mainly 3:
1. They thought that the taxes and acts (laws) were unfair.
2. They thought that because Britain fought for themselves in the French and Indian War, they should pay for it themselves.
3. They were in salutary neglect so long that they were used to having a lot of rights, they weren't used to having other people making rules for them.
-I sort of guessed the last one and made it up on the spot, but is should be the general idea. The others are definitely right.
they wanted freedom because king George didn't want to pay them
basically cuz they were tired of being bossed around. wut duz that have 2 do with the New England Patriots, tho?
the patriots left the british because King George made them believe what he believed in and did not let his people practice their own religeon/beliefs!
Loyalists wanted to stay loyal to Britain but the patriots didn't; they wanted independence. the patriots did not like it when Britain taxed them from thousands of miles away and when it passed laws that were unjust. loyalists did not want to fight Britain
because they didn't care about independence -they were loyal to the king of Britain
Not only did other countries start to want independance from Great Britain, but America now owed lots of money to France. Though there was a period of prosperity, with the entire world at peace. Also the war reviled to Great Britain all of their militarily weaknesses.

The Loyalists (Tories) did not want to separate.
People who did not want independence from Great Britain were called loyalists, and people who favored independence from Great Britain were called patriots. WILLIAM U
The Loyalists wanted to be ruled by Great Britain and the Patriots wanted to be free from Great Britain.
The Loyalists wanted to be ruled by Great Britain and the Patriots wanted to be free from Great Britain.
The patriots wanted Independence from Great Britain because they protested that Great Britain had no right to tax them without the consent of their own colonial assemblies. They called the British policies "Taxation Without Representation." Some colonists refused to buy British Products.

colonists The person who answered before me is purely mistaken. There were three types of people in north America with relations in the revolutionary war. The Patriots wanted freedom. The Loyalists were with Britain. And the Quakers wanted peace.
The American colonists, whose army was led by George Washington, wanted to gain their freedom from Great Britain.
Americans supported patriots. They (the Americans) were excited about the Declaration of Independence. Patriots agreed on independence. Loyalists were loyal to the King. They did NOT want to do whatever they wanted to, they wanted to do as the King said.
The Declaration of Independence was like a declaration of war, stating that they want to have their own free nation and do whatever it takes. The British responded with war, because they didn't think they needed to change their laws. Great Britain had owned all the colonies, and the patriots were requesting to get their own nation. So overall, the British own all 13 colonies, but the patriots don't WANT that, so the British responded with: War because: They wanted to keep the colonies.
