The US House of Representatives did, in fact, impeach President Clinton on December 19, 1998, making him only the second President to be impeached.

He was acquitted by the Senate on February 12, 1999.

The only other president to be impeached was Andrew Johnson in 1868.

Despite the fact that his Administration had enacted virtually the entire Republican agenda, the Republicans impeached Bill Clinton because they hated him. They still hate him. Their excuse is that he lied under oath about his sex life, which is true enough, although how his sex life is any concern of theirs is a mystery. If he had answered "None of your business," instead of lying about it, the impeachment would never have happened.

The impeachment was all a fake, a sham, and a disgrace to the Republican Party and to the nation. If there had been a shred of truth to anything the prosecutors said about it, they would also have impeached President George W Bush, who lied us into a war that has killed more Americans than the terrorist attacks of 9/11 did, plus uncounted thousands of innocent Iraqi men, women and children, and has robbed our country of all the goodwill and sympathy of the world. But they did not.
