The Townshend Acts (1767) were met with resistance in the colonies, prompting the occupation of Boston by British troops in 1768, which eventually resulted in the Boston Massacre of 1770. As a result of widespread protest in the American colonies, Parliament began to partially repeal the Townshend duties.

The sons of liberty opposed to the Stamp Act, they also were involved in causing rebellion during the Town shed Acts and the Tea Act. To protest the Tea Act, the Sons of Liberty dressed up as Indians and threw British tea off of three ships that were anchored at Boston Harbor.
Because the colonists boycotted English goods. The British suffered because of the boycott and most of the acts were repealed in 1770.
