The papacy launched the first crusade in Europe to encourage the European Nobles to regain the holiest of the holy land, to help their eastern brothers (Byzantines or Eastern Orthodox Christians) and to establish wealth and trade routes in the east against the wicked race (Turkish, Arabs and other Saracens)
Actually, my understanding of the Crusades was more that they needed the pope. Some duke or earl or somebody needed to make a name for himself, and the best way to do that was to lead a big procession off to the Holy Land, and come back with some prize or a tale of derring-do, for which they would receive recognition, title, land and the right to marry somebody's daughter.
I'm just trying to remember my ancient history classes, but I think I got it mostly right.
There were 9 crusades in total. some of these Crusades were ordered by the pope, some were not. so, unless you tell me which crusade is 'another crusade', i cannot answer your question.
